THE TARIFF COMMISSION.
As to the unauthorised publication of some of the main recommendations of the Tariff Commission in the Evening Post, as to whioh the Premier spoke with such feeling on Friday evening as to induce mc to promptly wire them to you, the members of the Commission have waited upon Ministers in order to disclaim any knowledge. The Commissioners expressed to the Premier their surprise at the publication of the recommendations in the Evening Post, and stated that thoy had not supplied the information, which must, therefore, have come either from the officers of tho Customs Department, the Ministers themselves, or the printing office. The Colonial Treasurer said it could riot have come from the Customs Department or from the printing office, and Ministers did not for a moment think it had come from the Governor. The Premier said nothing, but; like an historic parrot, he probably thought a good deal.
