PERSONAL ITEMS.

Lieutenant-Colonel Sumpter and Major Headland, of Oamaru, and Major Young, of Winchester, were in town on Saturday. Mr W. H. Henning, of Akaroa, and Mr R. N. Bealey, of Hororata, were in town yesterday. By the Penguin on Saturday the Hons. W. D. Stewart and J. E. Jenkinson were passengers from Wellington. Mr J. -Bayne, of Lincoln College, returned from the south on Saturday. Miss J. C. Orbell, of Geraidine, who had been staying on a visit with friends at Ashburton, was a passenger by the Southern express on Thursday. Mrs Wigley left by the express on Saturday. Mr Kohn and Mr Slattery also went south by the same train.

Mr Reid went south to Alder-lie on Saturday.
