ADVERTISING THE COLONY.

20 TBE EDITOR OF TUE PRESS. Sib, —I see by your valuable paper that the Government are taking active Bteps to , promote the tourist traffic and advertise the resources of the colony generally by placing collections of photographs ia the home-going boats and distributing leaflets descriptive of the colony throughout Europe. Kow, I consider this a step in the right direction, but I think a much better and fuller way of describing the country would be by allowing all newspapers and periodicals to go post free, after the plan followed by the New South < Wales Government, and I am certain that the gain to the colony would be a thousandfold more than the loss to the postal revenue. Just think of the good the country would receive from a wide distribution at Home of such admirably illustrated and descriptive papers as the Weekly Press aud Canterbury Times. Hoping this will meet tho eye of the Minister for Labour.—Your3, &c, 0\ G. M.
