In the Assembly, the Gambling Bill passed through Committee without material amendment. In the Assembly the Treasurer introduced the Credit Foncier Bill. Pebth, July 19. In the Assembly Mr Leake gave notice of a motion condemning the education policy of the Government. In reply to the Premier the leader of the Opposition said the motion did not have his support, and the Government therefore declined to treat it as one of want of confidence. The Treasurer moved the second reading of the Customs Repeal Bill,the object of which is to reduce the taxation on certain articles of food not produced in the colony and on raw material used in manufactures. TJie Bill meet 3 with strong Opposition from the Protectionists.
