MIDDLE DISTRICT UNIVERSITY,
At a meeting of the Council of the Middle District of New Zealand Universityyesterday afternoon, a Committee was appointed to ascertain what reserve is available in the middle district, and a general meeting will be called wheu the Government's reply to yesterday's deputation is received. Captain Russell said it would bo desirable to move as soon a3 possible in the direction of getting the Government to set aside 20,000 acres or more of Native land. In the course of fifty or a hundred years such a restive would become v magtiiriceut property. Mr Hogg stated that a reserve of twenty aciei in Masterton was bringing in £600 a year, aud before long the revenue from it would probaoly be about £1000. The Wellington University College must have reserves.
