GERMAN SUGAR.
Advices from Berlin state that the German Government have sent a Bill to the Reichstag proposing further legislation on sugar. The law of May 31st, 1891, granted export bounties as folio ws :—Class A, 1.25 marks; clas3 B, 2 marks; class C, 1.65 marks per 100 kilog-i. These rates were to be reduced Tom August Ist, 1895, to 1 mark, 1.75 matks, l.<{o marks, aud after Juiy 51st, 1897, the bounties were to be abolished. Ihe present Biil, however, proposes chat the higher bounties shall be maintained. The motive stated is the depression of the sugar trade. of German sugar W6re more than doubled in ApriL
