THE TIMBER INDUSTRY.

The Auckland Star says :—•• The briskness of the limber industry is shown by the fact that local mills are stiil running day and night. At Mercury Bay mill a contract has just been given out by the manager, Mr Edwards, en behalf of the Kauri Timber Company, for the cutting of 20,000.000 ft of timber. This mill is now lit by the electric light, as it id running night and day. Over eighty hands are employed in the mill itaelf, and fully 200 in the mill and bush."
