THE ESTATES LOTTERY.
A Press Association telegram states that steps are being taken to have a petition opposing the Estates Company's lottery signed in forty churches ia and around Dunedin on Sunday. The petition sets forth that the lottery would ba inimical to the moral and economic interests of the people, would tend to foster the active gambling spirit which already exists, and would be contrary to the policy of the beat legislation of the day.
