SATURDAY'S PRODUCE REPORT.
(by oits commercial editor). A fairly large quantity of wheat was being offered in town to-day, but; holders' ideaa generally speaking were slightly ahead of buyers', and not very much actual business transpired in consequence. The majority of farmers were holding out for 3s 6d, but in a few cases limit was dropped to 3a sd. Merchants, however, were indifferent at anything beyond 3s 4d, and thie was the current price obtainable. We are glad to note by the cables from Europe that the attitude of the market at Home is firm, and should a steady improvement act in, we shall see more animation in the local market, Oats are very strong, and as there are very few being offered, prices are firming up steadily. Holders are beginning to show some inclination to unload fearing a possible lull, but we think the market will continue for a time to show steady improvement. Other lines of grain are unaltered. Potatoes are rather dull, the absence of any Australian enquiry checking the possibility of any immediate rise in prices. Offers of 255, country stations, for prompt delivery, are about the best obtainable, whilst some buyers are offering 30s for forward delivery. Cloveij Seed is still being offered fairly freely, and prices are a shade higher, and range from 6d to 6\! for very clean lots. [These quotations, unless otherwise specified , are the net cash prices paid to the producer free of brokerage or commission, and for delivery at country stations within a twenty five mile radius of town. For delivery on board ship at Lyttelton add 2d to per bushel]
