A FATAL MISTAKE.
An Auckland Press Association' telegram j states that it came out in evidence at the inquest on Joseph Short, the railway employee, who was drowned in Like Ngaroto by the capsizing of a canoe, that, thinking he was in deep water, he continued bw - attempt to. swim ashore, and waß actually drowned in sft of water, when he coolhave waded out had he known the depth.
