THE WINTON BABY FARMING CASES.
PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) INVERCARGILL, June 7. When the charge of the murder of Dorothy EJibh Carter, against the Deans, was resumed this morning, the Crown Prosecutor slated he proposed entering on a new line of evidence, with the o!'j -ct of showing that on the third of May llu Dean had another infant entrusted to her, which she had murdered. „ In tendering this evidence, he relied on the judgment of the Privy Council in the Makin infanticide casea, wlierein it was held that ab the hearing of an indictment for the murder of one infant evidence could be adduced of the finding of other bodies in the accused's garden. His object was to show that the death of Dorothy Edith was not the result of accident, but of design. Mr Hanlon, for the accused, objected, intimating that she would carry her objection to the Supreme Court, but the Magistrate, Mr Poynton, admitted the evidence. Nothing new came out to-day in the Police Court enquiry re the alleged murders by the Deans. "The evidence is, however, a little closer than that given at the inquests. The Court is sitting late to-night to endeavour to get through with the cases, as the Supreme Court sittings commence on Tuesday.
