ACTION OF A GERMAN GUNBOAT. Press Association—By Teiesjraph—Copyright. Shanghai, June 6. The German gunboat Itlis bombarded and silenced a Chinese fort at Hove (sic), because the authorities prevented tho departure of a steamer carrying Fang Ching, President of the Formosa Bepublio. The steamer afterwards proceeded on her way to the town of Taipehafa, in Formosa, where a powder magazine was set fire to and exploded, killing ninety persons.
