AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir, —A local in this morning's Press announces that a general meeting of members of the Agricultural aud Pastoral Association will be held at the Association rooms at 2 p.m. on Tuesday next, to consider plans of a proposed grand stand and luncheon booth upon bhe Show Ground. Ib appears thab tbe Association has lately, after many years of difficulty, succeeded in establishing itself upon a sound financial footing, and it now proposes to use its improved credib to enable ib bo build a luncheon boobh and grand stand ab a cost of about £1200 or more.
Now I do nob wish to imply that in doing so ib will necessarily be acting in a shortsighted or improvident manner, but I feel most strongly tnabyjbjfore the Association incurs any further debts, the matter should be given bhe most careful consideration, both to make sure thab this expenditure is warranted, and further thab the money, if spent, shall be used to tbe very best possible advantage.
I therefore take this means of impressing upon all members who have the welfare of tbe Association at heart bhe urgenb necessity of attending Tuesday's meebing, in order bhab bhe matter may be fully discussed and threshed oub, before the Association finally commits itself to a_y further expenditure.— Yours, &c, Farmer.
