She experienced three severe gales, which carried away all the saloon cabins, boats, sails, steering gear, compass, most of the food and clothes, and inflicted injuries on the captain's wife and two sailors. For twenty-two days the vessel was only able to make very slow progress. She was very short of provisions, but eventually obtained necessaries from a passing vessel.
