THE HALF-HOLIDAY.
At Auckland last night was made the late night for shopping instead of Saturday. The shops were all lit np, but the traffic was not so large as had been anticipated. The Auckland shopkeepers opposed to the Saturday half-holiday have decided to close to-day pending the decision ol the Supreme Court on the test cose. Subscriptions are coming in freely for defraying the coats of the legal proceedings. The fruiterers of Dunedin have convened a metting to coasider the effect of Mr Carew's decision regarding their trade.
