THE HALF-HOLIDAY.
(pbess association telegbam.) WELLINGTON, January 24. The difficulty which prevented the Halfholiday Conference doing any business on Monday has been removed by the Melrose Council formally appointing Mr Bayliss, the legality of whose selection was questioned, to act. The. Government are not interfering in Auckland, tbe Mayor being ex officio a member of the Conference, which can fix the day without the presence of delegates from the Council.
