THE ASWANLEY.
Yesterday; afternoon the" cargo steamer Aswanley arrived: from' Mpji, Japan; via Auckland and Napier, having come to Nβ w Zealand under charter to the Shipping Compiny to load general cargo fer London. The steamer is a line stamp of the modern cargo carrier, and is now on her maiden voyage. Sne was launched ab Suaderland early in, last year, and loaded general cargo at Antwerp and Hamburg for Hongkong and Yokohama. iOα arrival in Japanese waters she was emI ployed in the coasting trade for a couple ot months under charter to the Nippon Yuseu Kasha Company, their regular : steamers being employed by 'the Japanese Government, in consequence with the war with China. Leaving Yokohama on December 4th, the Aswanley went to Moji, where a supply of coal was taken on board, and the voyage resumed on the 10th, the steamer arriving at Auckland on January 3rd. The Aswamey is uuder the command of Captain Murray. Mr Mennie is chief officer, Mr Kivere second and Mr Jackson -third, while Mr Richardson is in charge of the engine department).
