THE FIJI TEAM. (PR2SB ASSOOIA.TXOH TBLKQBAM.I AUCKLAND, January 22. The team of Fiji cricketers is composed of the following players :—The Hone. J. C. Collins and J.S . Udal, Messrs H. M. Scott, A. B. Oaake, R. Caldwell, J. McOwan, VV. J. Groom, Ratu CadavnLevu, Rata Temsia, Rata Tai Vanu Van, R*tu Naivolovo, Ratu Tai Saivan and Rita EpilL The first four natives mentioned are Bau chiefs, and the laac two Row* chiefs. The native visitors are a five stalwart lot of fellows, and should give the local men a good deal of trouble .on Friday and Saturday next. This afternoon they engaged in practice on the Domain in preparation for the forthcoming match. They show aco inconsiderable amount of ability both as bowlers and fieldere, their throwing being particularly good, while as bats some of them are far ahead of any of our local cricketers. The best bats amongst the native members are Ratu Cadavu Levu (who is also a fast round arm bowler), Ratu Epili and Ratu Naivolovo. Tai Vanu Vauis the native fast bowler of the team. The Fijianp, though noted for being excellent men in the field, are not quite so successful with the bat, the team relying principally on the European members in that department of the game. The Hon. J. C. Collins, who is considered the best all round man the visitors have brought with them, was offered a place by Mr W. G. Grace in the English team that visited Australia in 1872. Hβ was subsequently a member of the well-known JVLarylebone Cricket Club, and in 1889, when he left England, was a member of this Club's Committee. . The following wiH represent the UC.O.U against the Opera Company to-day 'at Hagley Park, play to commence at 2 p.m. : —Harman, Clark, Frankish, D. Wood, Wigley, E. J. Ross, ' Beckett, Harris, Vincent, A. Hale, El Hale,' Hair, Barker.
