Moat fanners know that to feed wheat to stock the same as they would feed oats is dangerous. For instance, when a horse breaks loose in the night, and begins to explore the premises for the corn-bin, if he come.across a bag Of oats and eats his fill, the result next day is "founder" in the feet., Bat should the animal flnd_wheat in the bin instead, and eat to his hearts' content, the result is fatal in twenty-four hours, for c olid wheat, tstiground and an. moistened, is indigestible, on account oj the closeness of the grain. Wheat should always be fed along with plenty of chaff, and in that state it is an safe a food as oats. Aj correspondent -bf the .London Agricultural Oasette, writing on this subject, gives some useful information. Hβ says:—"l am a large feeder of wheat. I have given, my farm horses half a bushel per week each horse, with two bushels of oats—that is, after the wheat is crashed. I. feed nearly all my cattle .with wheat, and have never fouud it to do them any hurt;, bat it does them most good after it has been crushed or bruised. lam giving my lambs wheat, oats, peas, with some chaff, and I give that' all whole. I have used a lot of wheat these last' three years. I have grown about 309 quarters of wheat this year, ana it seems as. if I shall feed, most of it. I only sold a few quarters for eeed at 24s per quarter, and I have quite made up' my mind never to sell at less than 20* per quarter. I shall not thrash before lam compelled to for straw to thatch stacks and for home use, and the wheat I shall, feed for everything—fowls, pigs, sheep and, horses; and the remainder I will keep until two or three years old, and if pricts do not- Improve I shall. sow less I do not- get .any .wheat money; sow* I have sold as much as £300 worth in one year, and now it seems as if we axe never going to see any more wheat money, only the shape of . beef, mutton, ana poxk. I only write this just to inform you chafe wheat may be deed with safety if eroehed, Too maeh used wholt will see i
