An impromptu rtdlnpr party was gob op : .- last week and appears to have been Ten enjoyable. Amongst the fair equestrienne* - *■' were Mrs Hamlin and the Misses Trout beck, Rhodes, Garstin, and Messrs Jack Hughes, Will Belly, Willla Miller, and Q, ~ Cornford. A start about half pa«t six waa effected, and the merry party reached - home shortly after nine.
Mrs Frank Waterhouse is staying at th« Masonic Hotel.
Misses Hitching.* (two) have gone to ' Christchurch for a few weeks.
A river picnic was given- by Miss Rhodes, last week. The invited guosts included the Misses Rhodes, Locke, Baker, Malr Cotterill, Garntin, &c. &c. The Messiah was repeated in aid of the Children* Home, not before such a good audience as the merits of the performance and object it was played for deserved. Mr William Caro ana his bride, from Dunedin, are iv Napier viaitluuc Mr and MrsCato, senior. Mrs Willie Caco looks - very well in stylish costume of pale blue crepon, black picture hat. TLe new bowliug green was opened wlr.h great eclat on Saturday, wnen a number of the members* wive* and lady friends were present, including Mrs Wilson, Mr and Mrs Balfour, Mr aud Mrs * Sandiinan, Mr and Mr* Davidson, Mr YVyndou ami his daughter, Captalu and - MraTodd, Sec.
Mr Haughtm Barnect gave his final - organ recital on Thursday evening at the Cathedral, the programme consisted of Items from the leading masters, and wat • listened to with silent admiration by Ml who were there, the Cathedral being - crowded. Phyllis.
