MEETING OF DELEGATES.
A meeting of representatives from various tennis clubs in different parts of the colony was held at Lancaster Park on Saturday afternoon, for the purpose of putting the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association on a firmer basis. There were present—Dr. Nedwill (Canterbury),- in the chair, and Messrs F. Wilding, 8. Herat Seager, T. D. Condell, R. D. Harman, F. H. Bruges (Canterbury), H. Murray and T. Sutcliffe (Linwood), P. Marshall (Lincoln College), A. Borrows, A. Hogg and J. Mck. Henry (Otago), W. Dinwiddie (Napier), H. A. Parker. and Ross Gore (Wellington), T. Harold (Wanganui), and A. G. Cooke (Auckland), Mi Hurst Sbaoer said be had received a telegram from Mr Jardine, of Napier, resigning bis position as Hon. Secretary, of the Association, and .ib would be necessary to elect a. successor.. The last challenge cup had been won by Mr M. Fenwick, and no steps had .been taken to provide another for the present meeting. The Association required to be put upon a better footing, as afc present ib existed merely in name. He suggested that a Sub-Committee should be
appointed to draw up a set of rules and submit them to the various centres for approval. "•!•,, On the motion of Mr. Borrows, seconded by Mr McK. Henry, MrS. Hurst Seager Was unanimously elected hou. sec of the Association. Messrs F. Wilding, F. H. Bruges, and H. Murray were appointed a Committee to draft a set of rules, and submit them to the different centres for approval. It was resolved, as a recommendation to the Committee, thab the Challenge Cup should nob in future be won absolutely by any player. The next tournament was fixed to take place in Wellington, if arrangements can be made for a suitable ground. The meeting then terminated.
