THE TICHBORNE CASE.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION SSLIGRAMB.) AUCKLAND, December 29. ' Mr John Philips, of Phillips and Son, painters, and Mr. E. Bartley, architect, state that they'remember perfectly well the Monkhouse referred to in the Tichborne case as being in Auckland. He left Auckland about 1870, and was a scenic artist and decorator. WELLINGTON, December 29.' A special telegram to the Post,- from Palmerston North, says Mr Nev.Uo Thornton, the scenic artist, corroborates the statement about Monkhouse, who is said to know of the alteration of the ship Bella, having been residenb in Auckland. ' He was a draughtsman and decorator, and' is believed to have inherited some money and gone Home about twenty-Bix years ago. Some of his work existed at Mason's, hairdresser, Queen street, Auckland, a couple of years ago.
