SENIOR CUP MATCHES.

MIDLAND v UNITED.

This match was brought to a conclusion at Hagley Park on Saturday, when the Midland won easily by an innings and 166 runs. The losers were expected to make a better stand, as the wicket provided was equally as good as the one the Midlanders made their runs on the previous week, but most.of the batsmen were in very poor form and fell easy preys to Robertson and Pearce. In the first innings R. D. Harman played careful and correct cricket for his runs, and going in first he was the last man out, his aide being three men short. In the second venture Fr-mkish and Wigley were, dismissed by the time the score had reached only 5, but on Cotterill joining R. D. Harman a better stand was made, and the score was taken to 79 before the latter was stumped for a well played 42. T. D. Har* man only made three singles and was then bowled, and with the score unaltered Cotterill was stumped for a well got 37, which included a fine drive out of the ground for 6. Of the others Smith and Clark wore the only ones to make any stand, and batting two men short the venture closed for 116. Robertson bowled extremely well in both innings, and Pearce trundled steadily, while the fielding was fairly good. The following are the scores :— MIDLAND. First Innings ... — — 345 UNITED.
