SOUTH AUSTRALIA v VICTORIA.
ADELAIDE, November 30. The first Intercolonial match this season for the Sheffield Shield began to-day, South Australia meeting Victoria. The latter batted first and made 252, Worrall 47, Harry 35, R. McLeod 46, A. Trott 38, Blackham (nob out) 35. South Australia lost one wicket for 15.
A match was played at Hagley Park yesterday bet;ween the United and Lincoln College Clubs, when tho former won by 127 runs on the first innings. The home team went in first and made the good total of 232R. D. Harman was top scorer, making exactly 100 before being caught. He gave three chances, but his display was nevertheless a good one. Blyth contributed 33, Fish 21 not out, and W. Harman, Tapper and Hair 13 each. Blyth and Fish added 50 to the total for the last wicket. Davie was the most successful bowler, taking seven wickets. The College then went in and scored 105, P. Marshall leading the way with a well got 39, while Malet hit hard for 35 and Davie and Jackson made 11 apiece. Being more than 60 runs behind, Lincoln had to follow their innings, and they fared a bit better than in their first venture, 144 being made before the last man was disposed of. Malet and Davie were the principal run getters, with 40 and 31 respectively, while Taylor made 13 and Marshall 12. The brothers Harmau, Blyth and Fish divided the -bowling honours for the winners.
The Kaiapoi and Rangiora Clubs met on the ground of the lacter on Thursday. The scores were—Kaiapoi 49, Rangiora 54.
