A SPIRITUALISTIC SEANCE. CAPTURE OF A MATERIALISED FORM. Press. AMOoiation—By Telegraph—Copyright. Sydney, October 19. For grime time pake a sensation half been caused by the spiritualistic seances conduoted under the medium* ship of Mrs Mellon, and the positions occupied by those investigating seemed to place the matter beyond the intention to deceive. Two gentlemen have made a statutory declaration that at a materialisation seauce, at Mrs Mellon'a house, they captured the materialised form of a little girl which was merely Mrs Mellon on her knees. They also found within a recess articles which were recognised as forming part of the attire of other materialised spirits. The discovery is oreating a sensation. Qn the other hand Dr. Macarthy, under whose eye previous seances were conducted, was not preeent at the discovery, but despite it, does not believe that the manifestations which he obtained were the results of fraud. If they were, then he Bays Mrs Mellon is the greatest) conjurer he ever saw. Mrs Mellon gives an extraordinary explanation of how she was foand to be in the place of the disembodied spirit, and says that the latter drew ite matter from the medium, and gave an instance that her weight diminiehdd by half on such occasions, which she declared had been proved by experiments. When the charm was broken by capture the spirit fled, leaving an attenuated medium.
