The first to work was Impulse, who commenced steadily and improved his pace as he went on, finishing up the last five furlongs fast. Lake Shell accompanied the Sc Leger horse che last seven or eight furlongs. Scot Free registered a good three-quarter pace gallop, but Pegasus was only sent for long half-pacing exercise, and Perkin was similarly treated. The Cup horse went well within himself all the way, tbe Cask •et not being one ae*inst. the watch. Clarence and St. John were cantered, and the latter at—.wards galloped several furlong*-. New Headford and Starling put in stromc tedding work. Chain Link and Wedlock were steadily weiked over a

mile, finishing up at a fair pace. Ahaura did two rounds strong. Vogengang cantered the first part of a mile and a half, improved bis pace from the mile to the six furlong post, and accompanied Louis for five furlongs, when he came in alone registering 54.cc for the last half mile, going easily. Later on it took The Dancer and Coala, the jumper, 55*-sec over the same ground, the jumper being all out. Daralop was cantered twice round. Lottie and Rangipuhi commenced together, and keeping company finished up at the end of a mile and a quarter in 2min 18 3-sth sec. The mare went very freely, and the horse rathei lazily. Beadonwell had light sweaters on, and was assisted the last part by Britomarte. Barmby. Loveshot, and the two-year-olds were working, but nothing special was done.

The racehorse Leontine, in charge of Nicol, arrived by the Flora tod*v. A Trotting Club has been formed at Temuka. wuh a membership of sixty. Mr J. Quinn will act as Secretary, and Mr C. Story as Treasurer. Dr. J. S. Hayes has accepted the position of President. The programme of the first meeting will comprise six events, with stakes of an aggregate value of £130.
