GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
In the Legislative Council the Native Afiairs Committee recommended that the Arms Act Repeal Bill should not be proceeded with, a debate on the petition of Major Charles Brown was adjourned, the Wilson Land Bill was read a first and second time and referred to tbe Waste Lands Committee, the Sea Fisheries Bill was read a first time, of the amendments mads by the House in the Tramways Bill some were agreed to and managers were appointed to confer on the others, the Shipping and Seamen's Act Amendment Bill was reported with leave to sit again, the Tongariro National Park Bill was passed through its remaining stages, and the Coancii adjourned till next day. In the House of Representatives, in the morning, the report of the Petitions Committee on the Equitable Insurance Company was presented, as was the Stock Committee's report on sheep and stock diseases, some amended Bil— were dealt with, a number of Bills were struck off the Order Paper, and the Counties Vehicles Licensing Bill was recommitted. In the afternoon the Counties Vehicles Licensing Bill was passed, a number of questions were answered, managers were appointed to confer with the Council on the amendments to the Native Lands Court Bill, and a discussion on a Gore grievance was interrupted by the dinner adjournment. In the evening, fresh managers were appointed to confer on the amendments to the Criminal Code Bill, the Council's amendments to the Native Lands Court Bill were agreed to, the Public Trnßt Office Consolidation Bill and the Unclaimed Lauds Bill were committed, the Government Life Insurance Acts Amendment Bill was read. a second time, as were the Post Office Bill, the Westport-Nga-kawau Railway Extension Act Amendment Bill and tbe Railway Authorisation Bill, the Land and Income Assessment Act Amendment Bill was discuesod in Committee, the Public Trust Office Consolidation Bill was passed, the Government Life Insurance Acts Amendment Bill was reported from Committee, the Unclaimed Lands Bill, the Railways Authorisation Bill, and the WestportNgakawau Railway Extension Act Amendment Bill were passed. Mr Seddon gave notice that he would move that the Midland Railway Contract Bill be now read a second time. The House rose at a quarter past one o'clock.
