Monday, October 1. (Before T. McClatchie and J. T. MatsorEsqs., J.P's.) Drunkenness.—Two first offenders am Robert Dunn were each fined ss, or ii default twenty-four hours'imprisonment. Alleged Attempted Suicide. —Alex Malcoim, charged with having attempted tc commit suicide, was remanded until Wednesday. Alleged Vagrancy.—-Emile Huskisson, alias' Chas. Rasmusson, alias German Charlie, was charged with being a rogae and a vagabond, having insufficient lawful means of support, and having been previously convicted as an idle and disorderly person. Accused pleaded '* Not; Guilty." Inspector Broham, who conducted the prosecution, sail the accused had received a month for vagrancy. Upon his release he expressed a wish to leave the colony. Money was subscribed for him and he went away. On Saturday night he was arrested by Detective O'Connor, to whom he stated that he returned three weeks ago and landed at Dunedin, from which place he bad walked to Chriatchurch. He asserted that he bad been working for Mr Studholme at Merivale. inquiry proving that .be was working there. on Saturday, Inspector Broham said he could hardly- press the charge. Tbe Bench administered a caution to the accused on his behaviour, and then set him at liberty. , (Before R. Beetham, Esq., 6.M.) - Civil Cases.—Conway v McGuinnese, claim £3 9s 6d on a dishonoured prbmisory note. • Judgment for plaintiff with cost*, Hall v Hall was adjourned till October 29th.,
