BytheßM.S. Aorangi, Mr F. WakeJin received a letter from Sergeant J. R. Wakelin, of the Christchurch City Guards, who w«nt~ home to compete at the Bisley ttieeting. Sergeant Wakelin was m excellent health throughout the meeting, but had not a large amount of success, owidg, to the bad weather which prevailed, and wis acknowledged to be the worst ever experienced at Bisley. He got drenched on one occasion, and, generally, the wind varied from 2to 6 and 8 feet. Sergeant Wakelin scored 77 for,the Queen's Ptize,.madn up of 27 at 200 yards, 25 at 500 yards, and 27 a. 60Q yards. For the Alexandra. Cup, he made 35 (the possible) at 500 yards and 24 at 600 yards, his score of 59 securing him a prise of £3. The fo.lowing trere some .of Us other scores:— Graphic prize, 29 at 200 yards and 31 at 500 yards ; Datty Graphic, '27 at 200 yards, kneeling; St. George's, 21 *t 600 yards; Mar.in, 28 at 600 yards; wily Telegraph, 32 at 600, winning £3. Iv the aggregate for the Corporation of London prize lie waa fiot certain of taking more thau £5. SerfiWot Wakelin can only attribute his want of better luck lo the bad weather, and says that Bates and other old aud reliable shots aid less than himself. When Sergeant wakeliu left for England Private J. McFarlane, of the Honorary Keserve Corps, gave him four letters of introduction to friends of his, and it ia a remarkable cbih•adence that of the four competitors to *horn Sergeant Wakelin was thus introduced .Reunte won the Queen's prize, S-cGibbonw&s second, and- Mmrhead was fourth. All three of these men belonged to the 3rd Lanarkshire Regiment.
