Mr Weddell is ab Paris urging the French Minister of "War to purchase Timaru and Geelong mutton, and utilise the ship at Rouen for cold storage purposes.
There are complaints that the bone 3 ot the mutton in all vessels resently arrived from New Zealand have a bad odour. It ia believed to be due to defective freezing in the first instance.
The Port Said Refrigerating Company has secured a site for storage at Malta at a cost of £40,000. The works will be finished in six months. The Government i 3 directing the construction of a cold store at Gibraltar.
