The Government steamer Jiincmca leaves for Auckland on Thursday next, proceeding thence to Rarutouga with his Excellency the Governor. Lieutenaut-Colonol Goring who went to Europe a short time buck to undergo an operation for the restoration of his sight, writes to a friend here that tho third operation to his right cyo has been porformed with success at Wiesbaden by a German specialist, Professor Pagcnstccker, and his sight has been restored to him. He can now read and write with freedom, and proposed to return, to tho colony by the Aoraugi. His left eye is also improving slowly. DUNEDIN, March 11. The St. Eathaus Hotel at St. Bathans has been destroyed by fire, lb was insured in the Manchester office for £300. The next meeting of the University Senate has been fixed to be held at Christchurch.
