EAST CHRISTCHURCH CLUB.
The fourth annual prize competitions in connection with the East Christchurch Amateur Swimming Club took place at the Club's bath, Gloucester street, on Saturday afternoon. Considering the accommodation the bath affords for the public, there was a good attendance. The weather was fine, the entry large and the majority of the heats were well contested. Each event was despatched by the officers with commend- . able promptitude, and the sports as a consequence did not drag. The officers of the day were: —Starter, Mr F. W. Hobbs ; Umpire, Mr E. A. England: Referee, Mr J?. W. Johnston ; Judges, Messrs Deacon, Scott and Wharton ; Time-keepers, Messrs Sandstein and Gundersen. The Two-Lengths Maiden Handicap was won by R. Boot, the Ladies' Bracelet by S. L. Partridge from scratch, the Two-Lengths Inter-Club Handicap by C. Allen (a St. Albans representative), and the 150 yards Inter Club Race by H. T. Dudley, of the Richmond Club. • His win was a very popular one, and for a lad fourteen years of age be showed remarkably good staying powers, though he was fortunate enough to be the limit competitor.
