Lambert, charged I with drunkenness, disorderly conduct, resisting the police, and ueiug obecene language, was sent to g»ol for a month.. A first offender was /fined ss. Thomas Miohael I Mitchell, charged with habitual drunkenness, was sentenced to a month's imprisonment. John Schofield was fined £1, in default forty-eight hours imprisonment. Thomas Mitchell, on charges of drunkenness and vagrancy, was sentenced to a month's imprisonment. VAtißANcr.—A young girl of weak intellect was ordered to be nanded over to her friends at Temuka. BonouGH By-Laws.—T. Bullock was charged by the Inspector, W. de B. Compton, vratb permitting a nuisance to exist on his premises. Mr Purnell appeared for the Inspector. A flue of Is and costs £1 la was imposed. H. Willis was fined 5s for riding a bicycle on the footpath. Bridget Mc Teagae was fined in a similar amount for allowing geese to stray on the footpath. Wni. Miles, charged with disturbing the service in the Primitive Methodist Church by putting the gas out, was cautioned and discharged. Civtc. Cases.-—R. Jones ?J. C. Duncan and another, claim £10 2e 6d. Mr Crisp for plaintiff, Mr Widdowson for defendant. The c/iaiin was for a promissory note drawn by T. K. Cunningham and endorsed by defendant and W. N. Helmore, the latter of whom was now out of the colony. It was admitted that Duncan had offered to pay £5, but disputed his liability for the balamse. After hearing argument, his Worship gave judgment for the amount claimed and ccists. John McLennan v M. Clifford, claim £7 lls, for harvest work. Mr Orbell for plaintiff, Mr Cuthberteon for defendant. The sum of £6 had been paid into Court. Judgement was given for defendant, with costs. ; -- Friday, 23. (Before Mr Thomas, J. P.)
