GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

From a business point of view the course of this market must be regarded as distinctly unsatisfactory both to buyer and seller, and the outlook is not comforting. -Fine weather has prevailed during the week, and harvesting work is rapidly nearing its close. Wheat—The sale of 16,000 quarters of Australian wheat at 25s 3d has broken the record, and it seems as it the bottom had quite fallen out of tbe market. Locally there has been little or nothing doing ad most farmers have not completed threshing, and those who have are lotn to bring their wheat to market under the circuinstauces. Oats.—The bulk of the offerings are duns, but a few samples of Canadians have been submitted most of them showing signs of the weather. No business, however, of consequence can yet be reported. Barley—Malting barley is in better favour, and prices ate firm at to-day's quotations. Potatoes—The crops now rapidly maturing are now commencing to excite the attention of the market. The acreage planted is about an average one, but it is yet too early to form any reliable idea as to the yield. Grass Seeds—Trade in ryegrass and cocksfoot has been very quiet, mainly owing to the great disparity between the viewe of buyers and sellers. Beans and Peas—One or two sales of beans have been effected, but in peas there has been little doing. Dairy Produce — Neither butter nor cheese show any alteration.
