Wakawatea shows signs of hardening in tne Newmarket Handicap betting, for which event Fortonatos is supported at 100 to 7. Lady Nelson won the Sandown Park Handicap yesterday easily, with Bst 31b up, in lmin 48&9 ec Bessie Macarthy, who experienced a slight accident recently, is recovering rapidly. Wagering upon the coming meeting; is dull. To-day 300 to 12 Shamrock for the New Market Handicap was taken, 200 to 3 Sterncbaser, 200 to 8 The Arab, 200 to £ Budolphe. 500 u> 5 Milkmaid, 100 to 4 Cannon, 100 to 3 Bruin, 100 to 2 Tudlamore. Offers to take 200 to 6 Warfare met with no response. 100 to 1 was freely offered Salopian. The following scratchings have been made: -Dundaa and Lord Glasgow for the Australian Cup, Lord Charles Scott foi.* the Newmarket Handicap. Loyalty was scratched for all engagements at 1.10 this afternoon.
