Monday, February 12. (Before H. W. Bishop, Esq., R.M., E. Feldwick, Esq., : Mayor, and J. L. Wilson, Esq., J.P.) Borough By-laws.—Mary MoCartney, for allowing a cow at large, was fined 55,. costs. 9s, witness 3s; P. J. Fowler, for having a horse tethered on Meadow road, explained that it had only been tied to a fence while another horse was being caught. The Ranger stated the tether was twelve yards long. Fined Is and costs, 7s. Civil waa given for plaintiffs in cases of W. Eckersley v F. P. Haynes, £16 19s 6d ; F. G. Black well v J. Harper, 13s; W. Fraser v Murfit, £1 2s 7d ; same vJ. McCandlish, £10 12s 4d. H. Bowling v A. Worthington, £5 for return of deposit on a horse and damages. Mr Nalder for plaintiff, Mr Heltnpre for defendant. At the end of last year defendant sold plaintiff ' a horse for £6, of which plaintiff paid- £3 on account and finding the animal a day or two after was weak in the back or loins from some unsoundness resumed it and demanded a refund of his deposit. After hearing part of the evidence for plaintiff, an application for an adjournment was made and granted for one month, with costs of defendant.
