'". The annual congregational meeting of St. -Paul's Presbyterian Church, Kaiapoi, was Leld on Wednesday, January 24th, Rev. W. J. Gbw presiding. "Between thirty and forty members and adherents were present. The report on behalf of the session was teadeby Mr Gow, whostated that the affairs of _c congregation were in a very satisfactory condition, and that the prospects of the church for the present year were of a most hopelul and encouraging character.. The services were well attended, especially the evening service, and great interest had been shown in the work ot the church. During the year an increase of three had been made to the communion roll, which now numbered 87 members. During that period two members of the session had resigned. Reference was made to the other branches of chmch work, and particularly to the Mutual Improvement Society, which had been started during the year, and which had a very successful session, great interest heing taken iv its proceedings by the young people connected with the congregation. The Treasurer presented the annual balancesheet, which showed "the receipts £487 16s 2d, expenditure £437 6s sd, leaving a credit talaoce of 9s 9d. Mr T.-Millar moved its
•doption, and congratulated the congregation upon the raar_ed improvement in its finances daring the year, as the Committee had been able to pay off nearly £200 of cebfc daring the year, besides meeting all the current expenses. Mr Millar *rave a Kportof the Sabbath school .work for the Tsar, and said a great improvement could w observed since it was held in the vescry »a»eadof the church. The number of scholars upon the roll _nd the staff of teachers rejoined about the same as.last year, aud the "«a_ee>s_eet showed a credit balance of ov ef£s. _j Fisher was re-elected Secret**y and Treasurer, Mesdames Heney, featherstoo, Messrs Hume, Heney and G. Millar members of Committee. Selections °* music were contributed by members of the choir, ami light refreshments were jisoded round during the evening. Rev. J.
