TO THB KDITOR OF THE FRIIS, B___—■ The oracle haa spoken, and Mr Molntyre says—"The estimated expenditure in the sewage area for the maintenance for tho year 1893 was £2215." . . . «*Th« total cost of administration not included in the above waa £680, of which £364 was charged to tho sewage area." Now, sir why ia part of tho cost of adminUtratioi included in maintenance ? and when all the ingenuity has been exhausted to load up tlm cost of maintenance there is then £354 to Ut charged to the sewago area, and they would like the ratepayers to believe that this wm the total cost of administration in the sewago area. Oh, yo gods ; tho veil is too thin. 1 have before mo au office copy of the estimates referred to. The tollowlni amounts are taken as thoy now stand ia the column headed " sewage area" and n__y possibly bo instructive to Mr Mclntyrti :_. Portion district account, salaries, eft.ee expenses, _c, _3625 ; law costs, £201 inspection rivors, £20; collecting rates i £240; office rates, £10 ; total adminisI trative charges to tho sewage area, £815, This is a fact for tho oracle, and ought to open the eyes of the ratepayers to see how they havo been gulled by Buoh abstruM statements.—Yours, _c, J.
