THE LADY MAYOR
(PBKSS ASSOCIATION XX--QBAM.) AUCKLAND, December 28. A special meeting of the Onehunga Borough CouncU was held for the purpose of electing a Town Clerk. Before proceeding with the business, the Mayor, Mrs Yates, took exception to the presence of Messrs Rowe and Hill, who had resigned their seats. These gentlemen thereupon stated that they remained in office until such time as their successors were appointed. The Mayor replied that she ruled differently, and would not allow any business to be transacted while these gentlemen remained to vote. The Council adjourned to January Bth, by which time their successors will be appointed.
