SAILING RACES.
A handicap race for Club prizes waa sailed last Saturday afternoon over the Heathcote and Avon course by the Ohriatchureh Sail- j ing Club. The entries were Alcyone Bcr, j Niobe lmin, Lorrie 3min, Hina 4min, and Hornet 9min. Lorrie led from the start, and at the Avon mark buoy had a lead of about 4min, which ehe lost by her jib carrying away, Alcyone being *irst to round, with Niobe next, before Lorrie got under way again, Lorrie, however, ultimately winning first prize. The times of finishing were __Alcyone 4h 52min 64sec, Lorrie 4h 53min Beec (Ist), Niobe 4h 63min 15aec, Hina 4hßsmin4s3ec (2nd), Eornet 5h 2min. On Saturday afternoon the Erighton Sailing Club decided another handicap race. The starters were Wallabi scr, Creet 2imin, Wainui 4min, Waiwera Bmin, Truant 12min. The two limit boats rounded the tripod with a substantial lead, and a splendid race home ended by Waiwera just getting in front during the last few yards and winning by a few feet. Wallabi made up a lot of her leeway, being less than a minute behind the first two boats.
