TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS.

Sir, —At the meetings held on Friday (W. W. Collins') and on Saturday (_).r Seddon's) the motions of thanks were seconded respectively by Mrs Stokes in the former case and by Mrs Garmson in the latter. As neither of the ladies' names ; appear on the electoral.roll of Christchurch, ■ I should like to ask what right they have to take part in meetings of electors?— Yours, &c, What Right. to the editor of the press. Sir, —I am engaged in a workrocm in the city in which are engaged a large number of hands, of all shades of opinion, and hailing fropi all parts of the electorate. I thought it would give some indication, in a measure, as to how the voting was likely to go to-morrow if I could obtain their views of the situation in the shape of a tip; By this means I have obtained an expression of opinion of thirty-six individuals, the result of the tips panning out as follows:— Evison was named 26 times, Smith 21, Beeves 15, Collins 14, George 11, Taylor 8, Hoban 6, Hoare 3, Bradbury and Sandford twice each. I might say that tho whole of the thirty-six are not qualified voters, not all being in the district, yet at th'e same time, as workers in the city, they take an iuterest iv the result, and the opinion held by them may be considered pretty general. From this result, it will be seen that the three chosen, members to-morrow ought to be Evison v Smith, and Reeves, and I think this tip will be found a fairly correct one. If you think the foregoing worthy of publication, you are at liberty to do so.—l am, &c, Z.
