NOTES AND MEMORANDA.
Owing the election the usual practice of the Musical Society will be held on Wednesday evening, instead of to-night, _.t the usual time and place. A sale of work and conversazione in aid of the effort for the reduction of the St. Albans Wesleyan Circuit _ debt. will be opened in St.' Paul's School- Papanui, on Thursday next. Among other attractions Mr G. Kelly will exhibit Edison's phonograph. A public tea will be provided at six o'clock. At the City Council last night the request of the Pioneer Bicycle Club for the licensing of the new room in Mr Charles Clark's buildings was refused. The Pioneer Clnb intended to give a concert op December let* and applied to the City Council for & license. The quarterly meeting of the Chamber of Commerce will be held at the rooms on Thursday next at 3 p.m. At a Committee meeting of the Midland Bicycle Club it was decided to alter the date previously arranged, and to hold the bicycle and athletic sports on December 22nd, so as to enable riders from other Clubs to ba present, especially Messrs Hayward, Waller, Wilmot, Pither, Hall and the Australian team, who are anxious to have a out at the Five Mile Provincial Championship.
