THE NEW AMERICAN TARIFF.
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. Washington, November 26. The new American tariff will reduce the duty on refined sugar from one_half to a quarter of a cent, per lb. The raw material remains free. McKinley conteuds that the reduction of wages will certainly follow the passing of the freetrade tariff by Congress. The latter is holding out a fearful' menace to industries.
