TO THE ELECTORS OF RICCARTON.

During the past month I ha* c taken the opportunity of addressing you at all convenient centres of the electora'e; but at all these meetings I have carefully abstained from any personal allusion to my opponent, or of saying auy thing derogatory to the views he has expressed and may possibly entertain.

He has, however, thought fit to attack mc on the question of the Catholic vote, an attack which I have refrained from answering, from the very sufficient reason that I believe in a fair field aud no favour.

My friends, however, have at length induced mc to reply, and 1 now do so by publishing the memorandum which I have received from Mr E. O'Connor, Honorary Secretary to the Catholic Electoral Committee, as follows :— " Riccarton Election. The Catholic vote : — The Catholic Electoral Committee, have unanimously decided upon supporting Mr Boag's candidature iv the Riccarton district. Mr Boag's reply to the circular addressed to candidates was much less favourable to our position than those of the other two candidates, but the Committee considered it an honest answer from a reliable man. (Signed) "E. O'Connor, 4, Hon. Sec." My action in this matter is now before the electors, and I leave them to draw their own inferences as to what my opponent may have said or done. Throughout my candidature my motto has been " lair measures to all classes of the community." Yours faithfully,

W. Boao. Burnside, November 25th, 1893. 5679
