MR GLADSTONE IN SCOTLAND.

Mr Gladstone, in reply to an address, said the political position was extremely serious, but with the help of the Almighty the Liberals hoped to overcome the obstacles. Mr Gladstone addressed a meeting of a thousand people at Edinburgh, and was received with enthusiasm. He said that to dissolve Parliament at the instance of the House of Lords would be a monstrous innovation. The Home Kule Bill would re-appear again next session, when the Government would find means to eusure it reaching its goal. September 28. In bis speech at Edinburgh Mr Gladstone promised to extend the Parish Councils Bill to Scotlaud. The Standard refers to the Premier's deliverances as disappointing and ridiculous, diatribes only worthy of. the windiest demagogue. It adds that the House of Lords will refuse to be bounced into passing the Home JEtule measure. The Times declares that Mr Gladstone's iudictment against the Lords is based ou a series of audacious assumptions.
