II information, so far as it could be obtained, B was procured. X In reference to the question of the at- H tendance of solicitors, Mr N. Nalder and m, Mr H. Hoban appeared to ascertain when i|. cases in which they were retained would b» j|i dealt with. ■•- " v tfJ| The Judge said he should not havo the <^!jf cases called till Wednesday morning, Wff but he might meation chat the Assessor had 7 m' taken objection to any solicitors appearing pL or other Europeans attending unless repre« f sented by interpreters, as ho was unablo to g follow the arguments and the evidence or jf discussion. I Mr Nalder pointed out that the power o! s decision in cases lay with the presiding |, Judge, and strongly objected to EnglUa | v solicitors being delwrred from appearing in I' the Native Laud Court simply ou tho objee bfc tion of a Native Apseaaor. w
The Judge said it wna quito clear the. Court had power to allow or disallow t>l4 appealance of solicitors. For his own part) ho would prefer to have tho assistance of learned counsel in tho ciuos, but ho must tto the same time give some deference to the objections of tho Assessor. Mr Nalder asked, if the Bolicitors proviaed interpreters, would the Court the? object to counsel appearing 1 The Judge said personally he had no objection, ana would bo prepared to go on with the cases, as stated, on Wednesday morning. Afier Borne further business, the Coait adjourned at 4.30 p.m. till 2 p.m. to-daj', and will sit at 10 a.in. on Wednesday*
