DAVID "STRANG, COFFEE SPECIALIST, INVERCARGILL. TIMARU HARBOUR BOARD. .»., At the meeting of the Harbour Board yesterday the tender of T. Pringle was j accepted for building the ballast wharf. A letter was read from Mr Darling stating that the new boat was to be launched on August 15th, and was expected to go to sea a fortnight later. Following the example of the Lyttelton Board, it was agreed to ask the Railway Commissioners to "tare" the trucks more frequently. At the last meeting of the Board a store site was granted on the foreshore to Guineas and LeCren. It now came out that they wished to connect with Mill's store which is on the railway land. The Department objected to this and wrote stating that Mill's building was six inches inside their boundary and therefore he would not connect. The Board replied tbat they were qnite indifferent. According to the Department's own pegs Mill's store was slightly over the boundary, and ten inches on to the Board's line. The Foreman of Works submitted a plan for.extending the mole 300 feet. Of this, 203 feet would cost £524, and the remaining ninety-seven feet, where there are random blocks for a foundation, £3201. It was resolved to ask the Governor to appoint a Commission to consider and approve or amend the plan and estimates. Mr Talbot'a motion to appoint a consulting-engineer was lost by seven votes to three. FIXE ALARMS.
