THE GREAT STRIKE.
CUM AMtotmsaa— Eiectne Telegraph—CopjrJeln. -London, August 9. The Daily Ckronick states that 40,000 Midland miners are discussing the offer of the masters to resume work on the old terms. Thirty thousand English miners have resumed work at an advance of jt per cent. August 10. The Scotch miners intend to strike unless their wages are raised a shilling per day. Scenza, a Sydney delegate to the World's Socialist Congress at Zurich, declares the colonials recognise that labour with its present weapons is unable to fight agaiust capital, and that political action is required.
