AUCKLAND NOTES.

J_ly_2. The Council of the Auckland Institute has agreed to join with the Canterbury and other Institutes in requesting the Government to issue a new edition of " Hooker's New Zealand Flora." Since this work was issued a large number of discoveries of new plants have been made, and many corrections will have to be made. The work must be done in the colony, and on all hands it ia agreed that Mr Kirk is tbe most suitable man to do it.

It is stated that Mr William Duncan, J.P., will be a candidate for the Eden constituency at the general election.
