June 29 At a meeting of the Land Board today the Commissioner said steps wore being taken to give effect to MrPirani'a suggested improvement in the method of receiving deposits from applicants for land. At present the niouey is forwarded direct to the Commissioner, who often finds himself in the possession a large munher of deposits which have to be returned to the unsuccessful applicants, with the addresses of many of whom he is Diir.cquainled. Under the new system the applicant deposit* the money at the nearest, Post Office, and * receipt is sent to the I v the event of on applicant being unuucceis. ful the Commissioner returns the receipt to the Post Office and the applie&ut reeeivei his money.
